This album is just a musical genius, it raised the bar for every rap album, the amount of effort put into this project is massive.
The songs come together like puzzle pieces, crafted almost in a perfect way by Ye. The features are accurate, i loved Kid Cudi, Pusha and everyone who was on Monster (yes, even Nicki Minaj, who i really dislike, but had the second best feat on this song). The lyricism is also fantastic, thoughtful and, most importantly, Kanye doesn't repeat the same argouments over and over again. The production is just sensational, some of the most creative sounds i have ever heard, always changing, never stale. The sheer amount of thought and effort seemingly put into every track, and the hard hitting, thought provoking, witty, and humorous lyrics that can be found within them justifies the critical acclaim. The grandiose choirs and samples all working in unison to push the message of racism, self improvement, and unrelenting yet justified arrogance, make for one of the greatest pieces of musical work this decade has ever seen.
West seems to have a 3rd eye in this album for feature choice. This project feels larger then life, and the way the singing and rapping works with the music, how all the features feel like a satisfying puzzle piece going into place even if they weren’t the traditional choice for this type of music, like Chris Rock and John Legend, seem to have a pleasant circularity as if they should have been begging to be put together from the beginning. Nicki Minaj on Monster is phenomenal, and Rick Ross on Devil In A New Dress and Pusha T on Runaway are excellent as well. Where the album really shines, however, is the features.
